The United Nations Positive Livelihood Award Centre (UN-POLAC) has appointed Ibukun Gbadamosi, MD/CEO Crovation Limited as International Peace Advocate to commemorate this year’s Human Rights Day. The conferment of the appointment was held on Thursday, 10th December, 2020 at the Nigerian National Merit Award House, Maitama, Abuja.
The appointment is in recognition of Gbadamosi’s proven integrity and commitment to the ideals of altruism, promoting universal moral values, strong family life, social harmony, inter-religious and ethnic cooperation, and the culture of peace.
As an International Peace Advocate, Gbadamosi will serve as a role model, championing peace-making efforts that promote peaceful coexistence and positive living in line with international practices across the world.
While speaking at the event, Gbadamosi described his appointment as a clarion call not to relent in standing for peace at a time when local and global peace is threatened by insurgency and more recently, the socio-economic fallout of the coronavirus pandemic. He urged everyone to see themselves as peacemakers anywhere they find themselves in these unprecedented times.
“This is indeed a clarion call at a time when local and global peace is threatened by the activities of bandits, insurgency and more recently, the socio-economic fallouts of the Coronavirus pandemic.
“These are unprecedented times and we must all within our power see to it that we play our part more deliberately, without relenting, in promoting peaceful coexistence in our society. Let us start from our immediate environment, our family members, neighbours, workplace, etc. only then will the ripple effect be felt externally,” Ibukun Gbadamosi noted.
